But to all who received him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.
This day is designed for frequent meditation. This doesn't have to be all at once. In fact, when we turn it over and over again in our minds, it begins to find its way into our hearts, which eventually changes the way we live.
This is the point of meditating on scripture and that's why we focus one day every week on it.
Ask yourself the question, "What does this mean for my life?" And, "What do I need to change?"
Try breaking down every word for examination. For example, what does John, the Beloved Disciple of Jesus, intend the original audience to understand with this legal talk about rights? What did he mean by "receive him," and what does it mean to "believe in a name?"
