In all my years, I had never once thought about what Biblical sheep were eating! I had seen nativity pictures of shepherds caring for their flocks, but I think I was probably paying more attention to the whole sky filled with angles portion of the story and not so much to the sheep. But it makes total sense and the new image is ingraining in me the ABSOLUTE DEPENDENCE of the sheep on their shepherd. Without the shepherd...no food, no water, no relief from the desert sun, no protection from predators. Without the shepherd...certain death. Psalms 23 takes on a whole new light with this revelation: "The Lord is my Shepherd, I shall not want...He leadeth me..." If I follow where He leads, I am safe. If I follow where He leads, I am provided for. If I follow where He leads, I am comforted. If I follow where He leads...
How does that sentence continue in the context of YOUR adoption process? Where is your Shepherd leading you? Is it where you want to go?
